About Us

Experience: We began our teaching careers in 2009 when we accepted positions in neighboring school districts. I have taught fifth grade science and US history for 6 years and i'm very excited to be able to focus on only teaching science next year. M has taught 4th and 5th grade science and social studies as well as 4th grade math. We also worked 7 summers with STEM camps sponsored by the University of Texas at Arlington and the CR Smith Museum. We have both served as mentors for student teachers for the last 3 years in an effort to give back for the excellent mentoring that we received from our own mentors.

Teaching Style: We believe that learning happens most successfully when students are active and engaged. Though that is not an original idea, our goal is to teach to the best of our abilities while staying true to that belief. A visit to either one of our classrooms will show students up, moving, sharing, laughing and actively seeking their learning. We want students to feel invested in what happens in our classrooms.

Honors/Awards: **2013 Campus Teacher of the Year **Continuous Improvement Demonstration Classroom **Grant recipient for Math Curriculum and Instruction Masters Program

Additional Bio Info: We met in the education program at UTA and were married a year after graduation. We both love to travel and are currently trying to check off every state on our "traveled too" list. My mom even bought us one of those cool USA maps that you put bright colored pins on all of the places that you've been.
